The Allness of Everything
“Increasingly, as he got older, he enjoyed things.
As his personal humility deepened,
so did his awareness of the amazing bounty of God. ..
so many things. . . one by one the small joys fell;
only, to Hillary no joy was small–each had its own mystery,
aflame with the glory of God.”
~ Elizabeth Goudge, The Herb of Grace
If we are created to glorify God, how can we do that without giving thanks with a heart overflowing with gratitude and adoration? What poor glorification can we give if we praise and glorify only for Miracles and BIG Blessings? Where is our recognition of that glory in between The Big Moments? And that is why He gives us the little blessings, the everyday blessings. . . His goodness and love follow us all the days of our lives, not just The Big Days. No matter the challenges, the heartbreak and frustrations, the results that feel like fails, no matter where you are in the wait of a prayer sent out, no matter the day going all wrong. . . when you don’t know what to do to make wrong things right. . .. Neglect not The Harvest of The Little Blessings. . .
. . . like a squirrel shaking acorns out of a tree. . . and the sound of it, like a jar of marbles tumbled over into a thick carpet. A blue jay jumping and flapping branch by branch, mostly hidden within the cloak of leaves, pecking snacks for supper. . . all allegories written by God’s hand of His provision, His protection, the light hand of His love imparted to His precious children who look to Him for all things.
. . . little hands reaching to hold mine, footsteps crossing the threshold, children’s voices in play echoing through backyards. Cumulus and cirrus wisp cloud discussions, orange peels, sweet kisses, sloppy kisses, the stillness of naptime, swinging high, building blocks tossed low. . . and the simplicity of the name of Jesus, yet the All-ness of Everything in His name. . . Jesus. . . Jesus. . . Jesus. . .
I’ve felt like I’ve been at a standstill this last month or more. . . and I’ve been stymied on how to move forward. Always, God brought me back to the little blessings, the everyday ordinary blessings. . . as though God were saying, “Neglect not The Harvest of the Little Blessings. . . and come to me in Thanksgiving, sit with me, tell my why you love them, and I’ll tell you why I gave them.”
Have you found the allegories written into the little blessings! What allegories have you harvested out of the little blessings He’s left you this week?

Remember Me Monday: #76 & Link-up
“I’ll make a list of God’s gracious dealings,
all the things God has done that need praising,
All the generous bounties of God,
his great goodness to the family of Israel—
Compassion lavished,
. love extravagant.”
~ Isaiah 63:7, The Message
In the Old Testament, God repeatedly, quietly and loudly, tells his children, “You have forgotten me!” (Jeremiah 3:32, Ezekiel 22:12, to name a few). It’s a heart cry from a father to a child who has forgotten all the love, all the saving, helping, little and big blessings – and it leaves me stunned when I realize our Father, the creator of the universe, who knows things I cannot begin to fathom, who authors storylines that leave me amazed, delights in all of us so much, He cries out, “Remember Me.”
While every day is a Remember God Day, I am inviting you to join me on Monday mornings to come by and remember what God has done for you, for your family. Maybe God sent a cardinal darting out in front of you, as if to tell you, “I’m here,” or broke a child’s fever after you laid it all down at His feet in a 2 a.m. bedside vigil. Maybe He stood with you in the wait of a prayer sent out, or brought someone you loved to Christ. Maybe He healed your broken heart, gave your courage, or you gave Him your dreams as a love offering only to have Him give them back in an unimaginable way. Maybe God helped you survive to bedtime after a crazy Monday, or forgive yourself for missing it with your kiddos –– Whatever it is, let’s Remember Him. . . in a “Remember Me Monday” love letter.
“My mouth will tell of your righteousness,
Of your salvation all the day long,
Though I know not its measure.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord”
~ Psalm 71:15-16.

A beautifully written blessing here within….
Maryleigh, I am so glad you are back as your posts always encourage and bless me!
Thank you for linking up with Sweet Tea & Friends this month my friend.
God often whispers His blessings through the everyday ordinary things of life that aren’t so ordinary after all! 😊
Blessings to you, Jennifer
Maryleigh, good morning! I’m so glad that gratitude goes with us, no matter how we’re feeling or what we’re doing on any given day. He’s richly given us all things to enjoy. Thank you for sharing the bits and pieces we might have ignored.
Have a wonderful weekend, friend.
Your words are beautiful Maryleigh! How true, what poor glorfication we offer when we only thank Him for the BIG things when we are surrounded by abundant blessings in every moment! I needed to reflect on this today-pinning to return to often! Thank you!
It’s often in the smallest of blessings that we can see God the greatest. Thanks for this reminder to count those little things too!
So many wait for the big blessings and live disappointed. Praying their eyes open to the God-richness around them! Thanks for coming by, Lisa!
