Letting God Be God — 15 Comments

  1. This is the best post for me in this time. WOW! Every verse, every thought of God causes me to stand and stand still, waiting upon Him, be encouraged by Him, be loved by Him. As I struggle with the world, I want to be in it if I must, but not be of it. I pray. Just pray! Powerful words, my friend. I want to write down each verse and hold them near for this time.

    • We must be in it, Linda, in order to find and save those lost lambs! Praying we stand and boldly bring those lambs home!Thankful He stands with us even as He fights these battles! What a good Father we have! Shalom in the Standing, dear friend! ~ Maryleigh

  2. I was just listening to a message this morning that pointed out that even the Son of God suffered injustice while on earth and allowed it. He’ll right all wrongs some day. But when He was on earth, His purpose was redemption. The speaker also encouraged people to keep the big picture in view, and not let differences over what should be and should have been done tear the church apart. Ultimately our battles are against the powers of darkness, and we have God’s armor. Sometimes all we can do is stand, but by God’s grace, we can stand. And we can remember our mission–to shine His light and share His love.

    • Such good words of encouragement, Barbara! Praying we shine His light and bring His lambs home! Shalom in the Standing! ~ Maryleigh

  3. I love the scriptures that you shared so beautifully! They provided such encouragement. It was really a blessing to visit and link-up with you today. Thank you for sharing and thank you for hosting! I pray you have a great week!

    • Thank you, Tai, for coming, for reading and for your encouragement! I look forward to visiting your place! Please come again – and praying God’s Shalom in your week! ~ Maryleigh

  4. In God we stand! At times that’s all we are called to do, for our fight is not against flesh & blood!
Great post of encouragement Maryleigh for all seasons & circumstances.

I remember standing at the feet of my late husband when the paramedics were working hard to keep him alive in the Ambulance in the wee hours of the morn, I was at the back door of the vehicle & all I could do was rub his feet & stand. Wordless prayers were prayed & I stood!
It was the beginning of the end, he passed away 14 days later never to return to our home.
Yes, at times all we can do is stand in Him!
    Blessings,
    Jennifer

    • Jennifer, what a hard standing! So hard! Sunday at church we just sang the name of Jesus – and that’s all we need because He knows the cry of the heart, even when we cannot form the words to the plea! When I learned that after asking, to just ask Him to stand with me – oh, how that changed my life. Instead of asking and asking and asking – I ask Him to stand with me in the wait – and in the waiting we talk about it – and I learn to rest. Oh, friend! What a hard night that was for you in the standing! So very glad He stands with us! Thank you for sharing your heart here – and your wisdom! Shalom, Jennifer! ~ Maryleigh

  5. Amen, such good words of Scripture today! The passage the Lord put on your heart in the beginning, is my life passage, so I was drawn into His Word right from the start. Oh, may I continue to stand and look up to Him, trusting in His ways that are so much higher than mine! Blessings to you and your dear husband today.

    • I am so very glad His thoughts are so much better, wiser, more creative, all the time right than mine. The more I understand, the more my soul can rest in Him. What a life passage to have Bettie! Praying we both continue to stand and look up to Him, to trust. . . to rest as in have peace in our hearts. I receive your blessing, Bettie! Blessings to you and yours today and all season long! ~ Maryleigh

  6. Maryleigh, this is powerful. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to stand. If that’s what God calls us to do, then we stand. And trust. And love. And keep our hope in Him. and pray . . . which is where I find myself right now. Standing and praying. The verses you opened this post with have spoken to my heart and crossed my lips many times. There’s so much hope in them!

  7. ‘I had to stop expecting my husband to be God and just let him be my husband, my best friend. He isn’t my redeemer, my healer, the fixer of broken things in my soul. That meant I had to let God be God.’

Amen, Maryleigh … I had to learn this the hard way.

Let’s take the pressure off our men to be our everything.

    Only God.

    • When I did that I was so much better able to love my husband better! What a difference it makes!
