January Blessings
When snow falls on our little mountain, a hush settles around–and I can catch my breath. It’s like living inside a snow globe world – when the heat’s humming and the fridge is working, and I can make myself a warm cup of tea.
Right before Snow Palooza didn’t hit as hard as forecasters thought, a brand new granddaughter was born–as fresh and new as a gentle snow. In between the autumn wedding and the first of December, I made my first quilt without the help of my mother-in-law. She helped me make my first quilt while we waited on my first granddaughter to be born 14 years ago in January. How I wish she’d been here to help me with Elle’s quilt. Quilt two out of the way. I have two more quilts to make for June, identical twin kind-of-quilts.

My friends, it feels like a jubilee year. Do you feel it, also? When you keep your eyes on Him and not the world? Do you sense it?
I’ve been baking–chicken pot pies, which I never made before, but my daughter-in-law loves. She sent me her recipe. Oh my! They are nothing like the frozen ones I had growing up. I made a couple to put in her freezer for after the baby came. I made my chicken enchilada casserole, too–nutritional and easy to freeze. I put together the ingredients for my granola bars. . . because my son asked.
I chose a four square baby blanket to knit. I really needed to have started it last summer. Maybe she will get it for Christmas next year. I will definitely choose a quicker pattern for June/July’s sweet babies. I made a 4 point blanket for one of my grandsons — it’s a sweet, modern looking blanket

I’ve been at a sticking point with Elijah’s Mantle Series: Lined with Praise. I knew I couldn’t move forward on any other posts He’s put on my heart until I finished this. Some might call it Writer’s Block. I’ve learned that He wants me to set it down and sit with Him when that happens. I’ve also learned that when I’m looking for something I cannot find that I need to be intentional with the present and not worry about it. It will reveal itself when I’m not hunting for it.
The last few weeks, even with the cooking and the knitting and the new precious granddaughter, I’ve tried to declutter my mind and sit with Him. I haven’t done a lot of talking, but I’ve been listening. Maybe it is in the listening for Him that stuck things become unstuck. He’s given me a beautiful gift–the gift of moving forward–and the ideas with which to move forward. Elijah’s Mantle Series: Lined with Praise Part 17 will be here next week, along with a surprise announcement.
Thank you for being patient with me while I was trusting to be patient with Him. Grace & Blessings, my friends!

Oh my gosh, those baby feet! Is there anything as sweet and precious! Congratulations to you and your family. May the Lord keep His hand on this little one’s life and draw her to Himself from a very young age! Blessings upon blessings, friend.
Amen, my friend! I receive that prayer for our sweet Elle!
Congratulations on your sweet grandbaby, Maryleigh! What a precious gift! And being still before Him and listening is the sweetest time of all. Looking forward to all that you share after sitting at His feet.
Thank you, Lisa! Grace & Blessings, my friend!
OH, those little feet!
Super congratulations to you!
What’s this new birth bring the “grand” total to now? Your family is growing fast!
It’s a bumper crop year. We’ve had a wedding every year for the last three years with the three youngest marrying. As of right now, we are up to 6 – three girls and three boys! That tally will jump in June/July! A double blessing!
Thank you for this. I especially needed this part, “I’ve also learned that when I’m looking for something I cannot find that I need to be intentional with the present and not worry about it. It will reveal itself when I’m not hunting for it.” Oh, how I needed this, this morning!
How I wish I’d understood that decades ago, Cheryl! Grace & Blessings to you, my friend!
You are blessed! Congratulations on the new granddaughter and the twins to come. I’m a MiMi to twins and it is an awesome blessing to have them.
Also, hurrah for new inspiration for your series. I do love it so. Keep up the good work!
Jerralea, I plan to give them a package of sharpies – identical twins – however are we going to know for sure who is who? LOL Thank you, my friend! Be sure to give me pointers on be a twin grandmother! We are so excited.
Congratulations on a new grandchild. You make homemaking so inviting.
Congratulations on your newest beautiful before-the-snow granddaughter! What a precious gift, and memories for years to come!! Blessings to you in the waiting and in the writing dear friend. ❤️
Congratulations on your new grandbaby! What a treasure. Your quilt is beautiful. I hear you about being at a standstill with writing. I feel Jesus is calling me to sit with him, and sure enough he always touches me with something he wants me to write. But I’ve recognized when he wants me to be still in him.
