Do You Ever Wonder: Lessons Learned from Rebecca

Blue Cotton Memory

The bible is full of stories about moms and dads who fail – sometimes they fail their kids, even their parents, and so many more times, they fail God. Yet God never once gives up on them. As a matter of fact, God seems to have a heart for those moms and dads – and kids who miss it – … Continue reading →

Waiting Like Christmas is Coming

Blue Cotton Memory

I’m thinking of putting my Christmas tree up early. . . it’s the kind of year it’s been. It’s been a year requiring long waits – long waits for healing from spinal-fusion surgery. Many in our community have experienced long waits in temporary housing until “home” has either been salvaged, rebuilt or roots replanted due to the devastating tornado that … Continue reading →

Living in The Wait

Blue Cotton Memory

I believe the hardest part of living is in the wait of a prayer sent out. I believe faith and trust in God in that hard wait is what we are called to learn – and in that learning – I find myself leaning in to the one who is working things out, fighting the battle, whether it is cancer, … Continue reading →

Little Ears, Little Voices, A Little Bit of Blessing

Blue Cotton Memory

“My praise shall be continually of Thee” ~ Psalm 71:6 “Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, from whom all good thoughts proceed, grant us the presence of the Holy Spirit, that we may walk humbly before Thee this day. Thou are the fountain of our light and the source of our strength. We render thanks to Thee for this home with … Continue reading →

A Do-Nothing Time

Blue Cotton Memory

I had a do-nothing morning one day last week. I sat knitting for a bit in the Thinking Room where the Mouse House is tucked behind a comfy chair, with my feet on an ottoman that hides tutus and dress up clothes for the grandgirlies. My Daughter-in-Law sat with me, feeding her newest son, while her three-year-old discovered all the … Continue reading →

Busy Hands

Blue Cotton Memory

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” ` 1 Corinthians 10:31 In January, after my surgery, my hands weren’t busy much, except for turning book pages, knitting, and photographing birds outside my window. Six weeks later, much to my household’s joy, my hands could lift a gallon of milk, fold … Continue reading →

Who Would I Be. . . Without Jesus?

Blue Cotton Memory

I remember my mom fail moments – they’re seared on my heart. My boys remember them, too – at least some of them. . . and they sometimes tease me about them, sometimes it’s just a remembering and it doesn’t feel like teasing. It feels like letting down. I remember apologizing for many. . . because I think it’s important … Continue reading →

Jesus came for those broken through persecution, p Jesus came for those broken through persecution, poverty, injustice, abuse, hate, unkindness, exclusion, abandonment. . . but he also came for the Jacob’s, the prodigals, the Samson’s - those who make decisions that break themselves, for those running away from authority, running away from rules, responsibility, away from God . . . . God wants them saved, too. . . . One seems a prettier, more noble “save” - but Jesus came for both, died for both, rose again for both. . . . what are you and I going to do about that. . . .

When I get flustered in upside down ways, or somet When I get flustered in upside down ways, or something hurts my heart, Keith tells me, “I’ve got you under my wing.” He told Henry that the other day, too! There’s something powerful about that kind of love - a love that values to protect and comfort.

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.” ~ Psalm 91:4, God’s Word Translation

“His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you.
You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.
His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.” ~ Psalm 91: 4, TPT translation

He scatters the frost like ashes.” ~ Psalm 147:15

It is satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy - God has created goodness in all things, even in the ice and snow, in the sweltering summer heat that suffocates, in every storm that damages! God is the innate goodness in all of them! It is up to the individual to vintage and redeem that goodness. That is the choice He gave us! Choose to find His goodness!
