Busy Hands

Blue Cotton Memory

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” ` 1 Corinthians 10:31 In January, after my surgery, my hands weren’t busy much, except for turning book pages, knitting, and photographing birds outside my window. Six weeks later, much to my household’s joy, my hands could lift a gallon of milk, fold … Continue reading →

Who Would I Be. . . Without Jesus?

Blue Cotton Memory

I remember my mom fail moments – they’re seared on my heart. My boys remember them, too – at least some of them. . . and they sometimes tease me about them, sometimes it’s just a remembering and it doesn’t feel like teasing. It feels like letting down. I remember apologizing for many. . . because I think it’s important … Continue reading →

Harvesting the Limelights

Blue Cotton Memory

Saturday afternoon found me between crumbling up hamburger with a potato masher for Sunday and Monday chimichangas, simmering chicken breasts for Tuesday and Wednesday enchiladas, and harvesting the blue hydrangea and green limelight blossoms to just save the beauty of them for the winter coming. The limelights leaned over the sidewalk to the front door. If they wanted saving, I … Continue reading →

Not a One was Lost

Blue Cotton Memory

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago when the mothers, soldiers, kings and towns and tent-men didn’t realize just how big the world is, but possessed a better understanding of just how big God is – a king lived in the desert with his family, going to and fro over the sands as this big-mighty, world-creating God asked. … Continue reading →

The Lamb who Thought He Didn’t Need a Shepherd

Blue Cotton Memory

I’ve been thinking about that lamb – you know – the one that left the 99, the one out of 100 who didn’t want to be with the shepherd or any members of his flock. “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the … Continue reading →

Overcoming Fear and Insufficiency in New Things

Blue Cotton Memory

Letter to Someone I Love on the Event of Starting a New Job! “I always experience Fight or Flight syndrome at the beginning of new things, new people, new ways. I feel overwhelmed by what I don’t know, overwhelming fear of disappointing. . . of not being good enough. . .but then I think about how in two-months time, the … Continue reading →

Sleepy Mondays. . . God is Not Surprised!

Blue Cotton Memory

It’s Monday. . . again. . . a Sleepy Monday, an I’d-Rather-Stay-In-Bed Monday, a Who-Stole-My-Get-Up-and-Go Monday, a How-Can-I-Get-It-All-Done-Today Monday. . . . I find myself surprised I feel this way – and then have to smile, share a small laugh with God. . . because He’s not surprised! My husband doesn’t make me coffee in the morning. . . His … Continue reading →

When You Take God to the Beach with You

Blue Cotton Memory

I love things in groups of five – acorns, sons, birds. It’s like God affirming All is Well. . . even if things don’t look or feel well. Five ibis’s were a sweet God message that He knows what my heart struggles with, reminding me to just let him keep holding what I’ve given him – “All is Well. Hands … Continue reading →

Jesus came for those broken through persecution, p Jesus came for those broken through persecution, poverty, injustice, abuse, hate, unkindness, exclusion, abandonment. . . but he also came for the Jacob’s, the prodigals, the Samson’s - those who make decisions that break themselves, for those running away from authority, running away from rules, responsibility, away from God . . . . God wants them saved, too. . . . One seems a prettier, more noble “save” - but Jesus came for both, died for both, rose again for both. . . . what are you and I going to do about that. . . .

When I get flustered in upside down ways, or somet When I get flustered in upside down ways, or something hurts my heart, Keith tells me, “I’ve got you under my wing.” He told Henry that the other day, too! There’s something powerful about that kind of love - a love that values to protect and comfort.

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.” ~ Psalm 91:4, God’s Word Translation

“His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you.
You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.
His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.” ~ Psalm 91: 4, TPT translation

“He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost “He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes.” ~ Psalm 147:15

It is satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy - God has created goodness in all things, even in the ice and snow, in the sweltering summer heat that suffocates, in every storm that damages! God is the innate goodness in all of them! It is up to the individual to vintage and redeem that goodness. That is the choice He gave us! Choose to find His goodness!
