The Year of Redeeming Prayer

Blue Cotton Memory

“God’s time for the performance of his promises is when it labors under the greatest improbabilities,” Matthew Henry, Commentary on Matthew 1. Last year was a Year of Broken Things. Major surgery for me, a massively destructive tornado in our community. Lives broken through illnesses, drugs and depression. Traditions broken, businesses broken, families broken through government-sanction quarantines. Man cannot fully … Continue reading →

A Soul Blind Daughter of the King: Expectations for 2021

Blue Cotton Memory

I am on a journey – and it’s a journey with little rest. . . until the journey is over. Sometimes on this journey, I am tempted to stop, pull out a cushion of built of tasks completed, sit on it and sigh, “I have arrived. I have earned my rest free of the chaos, of doing-doING-DOING for everyone else. … Continue reading →

Real Adoration; Not Just a Song

Blue Cotton Memory

“Oh Come all ye faithful,Joyful and triumphant. . .Oh come let us adore Him. . .’ I love this song. I love it even more when Andrea Bocelli sings it . When Bocelli sings “O Come all Ye Faithful,” I am there that Christmas night when the angels appeared to the shepherds. “Come, let us adore Him” . . . … Continue reading →

Waiting Like Christmas is Coming

Blue Cotton Memory

I’m thinking of putting my Christmas tree up early. . . it’s the kind of year it’s been. It’s been a year requiring long waits – long waits for healing from spinal-fusion surgery. Many in our community have experienced long waits in temporary housing until “home” has either been salvaged, rebuilt or roots replanted due to the devastating tornado that … Continue reading →

Living in The Wait

Blue Cotton Memory

I believe the hardest part of living is in the wait of a prayer sent out. I believe faith and trust in God in that hard wait is what we are called to learn – and in that learning – I find myself leaning in to the one who is working things out, fighting the battle, whether it is cancer, … Continue reading →

I rejoice, Father, On the day I called, You answe I rejoice, Father,

On the day I called, You answered me; You emboldened me and strengthened my soul.(Psalm 138:3). You Lord are my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in You, and I am helped; Therefore, my heart rejoices, and with my song I shall thank You (Psalm 28:7). Because I trust in the Lord, my loving Father who fights for me, I do not fear bad news; my heart is faithful, loyal, devoted (Psalm 112:7). Your word tells me to “Count it all joy: when I “meet with trials of various kinds because that testing of my faith produces steadfastness (faithfulness, loyalty, devotion), to let that faithfulness, loyalty and devotion have its full effect that I may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1: 2-4). I’m remembering, Father, other trials where you stood with me, carried me, held me, helped me, saved me, redeemed me. I’m remembering, Father, how when I met with you, you restored my joy during the journey through the challenge. I praise you for being a Father who is always faithful, who always loves, who always brings joy to the hard while you answer prayers, solve problems in ways beyond my imagination, often in ways outside my expectations. You are a mighty God, a protective, loving Father. Thank you for the joy you’ve given me – and for keeping it for me when I’ve lost it. I love you, Father,

Signed,

Your Girl
“You will be guarded by God himself. You will b “You will be guarded by God himself.
You will be safe when you leave your home,
 and safely you will return.
 He will protect you now,
and he’ll protect you forevermore!” ~ Psalm 121:8
I lose my keys, my glasses, my phone, my temper, c I lose my keys, my glasses, my phone,
my temper, control of my schedule,
the thread of a thought.

I’ve lost story-keepers
who grew me, knew me,
loved me before I knew who
I was to Him.

On a daily basis, I lose
hold of my humor and zest,
the determination, the confidence
to get-up-and-go

I’ve lost friends,
some due to
carelessness,
even foolishness,
some to
distance and time.

. . . and there are days I lose
the Joy God gave me
one day long ago,
and I sit as though the sun
had turned dark as night
inside my soul.
Lostness and Abandonment
surround
clamoring
so I cannot remember
why. . .

Where does lost Joy go?
It returns
to the one
who gave it to me,
who gave it to me
when I became His,
and He holds it safe
until I remember
who holds it
for me.

God whispered it was time to visit the sheep, so I God whispered it was time to visit the sheep, so I called my sweet friend - and went to photograph the sheep. The sheep snuggled under a shade tarp and stayed. You see, the visit wasn't really about the sheep. It was about the the time, the friend. It was about the sitting down, the talking. God knew exactly what our hearts needed - and knew we'd both make time for the sheep! The roosters and ducks - they were just an additional blessing.
Jesus tells them, “You’re holding on to me for Jesus tells them,
“You’re holding on to me for dear life!
Don’t be frightened like that.
Go tell my brothers that they are to go to Galilee,
and that I’ll meet them there” (Matthew 28:10).

What did they do with that Resurrection Joy? That Resurrection Hope? Did they walk home, walk back into their everyday ordinary Mondays and Tuesdays? Doing things the same old same old?

“Meet me in Galilee,” Jesus said – and I cannot get it out of my head.

The Impossible just became Possible – there are things to be done, lost to be found, souls to be saved. . . Meet me in Galilee. . .

Are you guys feeling a little deflated today? Not Are you guys feeling a little deflated today? Not so much a sugar crash from yesterday's Easter celebration but more like, what happened to our Celebration-of-our-Savior's Resurrection Hallelujah High? Maybe because we're forgetting what happened right after - maybe we're not walking into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the words, "Meet me in Galilee!" ringing in our heads. Those are powerful words, too - those are call to ministry words, friends - right in your very own Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! There are still lost to be saved, people to be redeemed! If we are the Easter People, we need to meet Jesus in Galilee!
