Sleepy Mondays. . . God is Not Surprised!
It’s Monday. . . again. . . a Sleepy Monday, an I’d-Rather-Stay-In-Bed Monday, a Who-Stole-My-Get-Up-and-Go Monday, a How-Can-I-Get-It-All-Done-Today Monday. . . .
I find myself surprised I feel this way – and then have to smile, share a small laugh with God. . . because He’s not surprised! My husband doesn’t make me coffee in the morning. . . His Dad made his mom coffee in the morning, but that’s not my husband’s thing. I sure could have used a cup to help me get out of bed today. Nope! No steamy cup of wake-up greeted me. . . but God did. . . . bringing me His Holy Spirit. . . for my day! He’s never surprised. . . I’ve come to rely on that!
It is not happenstance we are where we are right now, feeling just like we feel. . . right now. . .
Maybe you’re struggling,
maybe you’re in a Happy Dance moment or somewhere inbetween,
maybe you need someone to know just how you feel,
but you just can’t because you don’t have the words,
or don’t have someone who “gets” these heart-struggles,
or you just cannot. . .
but God sees where you are,
God knows the exact condition of your heart,
and He knows why even more than you do. . .
“Come to me”, He says. . .
with these burdens,
this Monday morning or every morning challenge. . .
“Come to me all who are weary”. . .
hurting, lonely, frustrated,
fearful, overwhelmed,
those who feel they’re planted in the wrong place,
the unsatisfied,
the broken dreamer ,
the broken lover,
the unconfident. . .
the unbeliever. . .
“Come to me, tell me about it. . . ,” He says. . . ,
“ and I will give you rest”
. . . and living water
. . . in Me you will find confidence, companionship,
spirit to overcome,
to see yourself as I see you,
to find beauty and grace where you are
right now,
. . . and “wine which makes man’s heart glad,
So that he may make his face glisten with oil,
And food which sustains man’s heart”
. . . even on a Monday. . . !
(Written around Matthew 11:28 and Psalm 104:15).

God’s has already layered this week, today with just what you need,
whether you’re in the down and ugly of a hard challenge and heart-break,
whether you’re just worn down and burned out,
whether you’re in the beginning of a big change and you feel unsure,
or in any level of lost,
or riding a wave of refreshing –
God has blessings for you today –
look for Him,
trust
believe
and you’ll find both Him and them.
Last week, He gave me joy of a cardinal fluttering his red wings in a bird bath overflowing with rain water, the comfort of home, a sweet new book and a blanket. I found Him in the hugs from sons stopping by for a quick minute, smiles from sons who still make home here, the celebration of 37 years of I Do, a rolling pin work out waking up muscles, flour on a surface for dough, grace and courage in new things, the courage to stay and fight instead of fly in the face of a fail moment, and comfort in God that I do not have to have all the answers and solutions. . . because He does. . . He is never surprised. . . .Thank you, Father, for being with me, every step of every day!
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give
you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26
Remember Me Monday: #13 & Linky
“I’ll make a list of God’s gracious dealings,
all the things God has done that need praising,
All the generous bounties of God,
his great goodness to the family of Israel—
Compassion lavished,
love extravagant.”
~ Isaiah 63:7, The Message
In the Old Testament, God repeatedly, quietly and loudly, tells his children, “You have forgotten me!” (Jeremiah 3:32, Ezekiel 22:12, to name a few). It’s a heart cry from a father to a child who has forgotten all the love, all the saving, helping, little and big blessings – and it leaves me stunned when I realize our Father, the creator of the universe, who knows things I cannot begin to fathom, who authors storylines that leave me amazed, delights in all of us so much, He cries out, “Remember Me.”
While every day is a Remember God Day, I am inviting you to join me on Monday mornings to come by and remember what God has done for you, for your family. Maybe God sent a cardinal darting out in front of you, as if to tell you, “I’m here,” or broke a child’s fever after you laid it all down at His feet in a 2 a.m. bedside vigil. Maybe He stood with you in the wait of a prayer sent out, or brought someone you loved to Christ. Maybe He healed your broken heart, gave your courage, or you gave Him your dreams as a love offering only to have Him give them back in an unimaginable way. Maybe God helped you survive to bedtime after a crazy Monday, or forgive yourself for missing it with your kiddos –– Whatever it is, let’s Remember Him. . . in a “Remember Me Monday” love letter.
“My mouth will tell of your righteousness,
Of your salvation all the day long,
Though I know not its measure.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord”
~ Psalm 71:15-16.

Amen, thank you for the beautiful reminders that HE is enough for all that we will ever face. What a precious gift! Blessings to you as you celebrate your Anniversary!
When I stop looking for what I want and just start looking for what He gives – life is so much sweeter! Thank you for the anniversary wishes! BTW – Thank you for the message in your post! Shalom sweet lady! ~ Maryleigh
Thanks for the reminder that even though this crazy Corona mess seemed to come out of the blue, it didn’t to God. And He is in control of how long it lasts and what it affects.
Instead of worrying a problem, like a dog with a bone, especially with loved ones, I’ve learned to set the problem down – I cannot tell you how many times I’ve prayed, “O.K. God – I’m surprised; you aren’t. You’ve created their story, placed in the character traits – and only you know how to redeem it. I wish I had understood that much earlier in my parenting – and, yes – with the Covid and all the other crazy stuff – God has the saving plan! It’s just giving the problem to Him! Shalom, Lauren! Thanks for coming by! ~ Maryleigh
“even on a Monday” …or a Tuesday. 🙂 I’m thankful God is with us every step of the way, every single day. He’s quite a trooper to hang in here with us 24/7!
When I see all the prayer requests on FB – and my heart grieves for the hard so many – I am awed that He handles each one individually in detail, right there beside as if they were the only one!
Well, I’m late to the party, but God has your words for me THIS day, friend.
I am grateful …
{{{HUGS}}} Linda! Praying All is Well! (2 Kings 4:26)! ~ Maryleigh
Boy, did I ever need to read this this morning! I woke up with a not-so-nice email in my inbox from a very prickly colleague who is stressing me out. God knew I’d have this challenge, and today’s verse of the day was a reminder to put on love. God has this. I don’t have to stress.
Stress any day is hard – but Monday Morning Stress seems like stress on steroids! I’ve found so much comfort in the realization that God is never surprised! Praying that you let it go all week long and beyond! ~ Maryleigh
